You Go, Girl!!!

Note regarding this post. I am treading in waters never before entered on this here blog. Those would be political waters. I want to warn you on the front end that you may not agree (and as my former pastor used to say, "you have the right to be wrong") and that's okay. However, I remind you that this is my blog and, here, I can say anything I want to say. Love you...mean it.

I consider myself a Republican even though I've never particularly been "into" politics. I'm ashamed to say that since becoming old enough to vote (and that's been a while), I've NOT voted in way more elections than I have. My thought always being that I wasn't informed enough to make an intelligent choice so, instead, I would just stay out of it. Of course, I realize that the fact that I was uninformed was my own fault and that a better option would be to become MORE informed. Point taken.

This particular Presidential election has been interesting and I planned to vote Republican even though I am not overly fond of John McCain. I admire and respect him but didn't really have strong feelings toward him either way. Two things that I do have strong feelings about are that 1.) just saying, "President Obama" creeps me out a little bit and 2.) I wouldn't vote for him now, if for no other reason, his ties to Oprah Winfrey who I have totally banished from my life (as if she ever knew she were in it). Of course, those are just two little oddities of mine; I wouldn't really vote for them because of other more important issues.

With all of that said, I am now, for the first time in 41 years (well not quite because I couldn't vote for the first 18 of those) excited about the upcoming election. And it's all because of a normal, "soccer mom" (um...that's "hockey mom"...I stand corrected) who exhibits integrity, is committed to values, who loves her family and loves her Lord. I applaud Sarah Palin for supporting her daughter and her daughter for choosing life. I read the following comment today from someone who calls themselves "Blogger Trumpit"...

Why do you admire her for knowingly, willingly bringing a Down’s baby into this world? That’s asking for a life of pain and suffering. Most people aren’t rich like she is and Uncle Sam ends up by picking up the tab for the special care and education a retarded child requires. You’re all into higher taxes and additional burdens and sacrifices that all will bear for her selfish poor choice. She’s a stupid selfish moron for not aborting her child. I only mean that in a kind and loving way. What kind of retarded monster would bring a retard into the world? I, for sure, wouldn’t, and I’m smart, intelligent and moral like she obviously isn’t.11:57 AM

....and can I just say, in response to this....thank you, Blogger Trumpit, for putting yourself out there to further prove that sometimes people are JUST PLAIN STUPID.

She was hockey mom! Not a soccer mom! Get it right, geez! ;)

I love her. Probably a little too much.

I am with you on voting for McCain. I don't really have strong feelings for him just strong "anti" feelings for the other side. The blogger you quoted broke my heart. I don't have a special need child myself but I work with a downs syndrome child at school each day. I have to say he is such a blessing to me. He is so loving and so full of life and loving every minute of it. I know it is a hard life, I cannot even begin to know, but as Sarah Palin said last night children with special needs inspire a special love. Kim

Oh my, Kelley! That blogger's comments break my heart! I cannot image what kind of mindset she has the set her heart against a child, especially with special needs, and considers it immoral to not abort. WHAT?

I am with you---I applaude Sarah Palin that she stands up for life. And don't you love how she makes you feel like you've known her for years. And has a GREAT sense of humor...I loved it!

Blessings!

Hi Kelley! This is my first visit to your blog and I've enjoyed reading! I jumped over from Steph's blog "For the love of Sam." (Steph and I are BFF in the real and bloggy world!)

I love Sarah, too. She's like a breath of fresh air in politics, right?

And the blogger comment... so, so sad. I completely do not "get" that line of thinking.

Blessings!
Dawn

Did someone actually write that???? I am shocked! I personally like her but even if you do not like her don't vote for them but don't call her and her special needs child a retard. I am so sad to have read this.
Blessings,
Linda

Amen Kelley!!
I have not really wandered out into political waters either, but I am so incredibly excited about this woman.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. Can you tell me how little Karli is?

When I read that bloggers comments I was not sure if I was going to cry because it broke my heart or if I was going to punch something because I was so mad.

WOW! May be the only word I can think of.

I am a fan of Palin too, by the way, I think I would love for her to be my next door neighbor.
